Educational Experience:
1st grade 1990- learned Amipro, never to see it again. loved Paintbrush
5th grade- won science fair
Junior High- made it to Art 3
Highschool 1998-2002:
had a class using video editing software, photoshop 4.0, and video cameras
took 2 years of drafting where I learned how to make front, back, and side views of objects as well as made three dimentional objects and texture them using AutoCAD 2000. I got 2 first places in State competition.
had a Computer Science course learning C++.
Summer After HighSchool:
I started learning html.
College:
I went to the University of Houston for 3 years where I painted in accrylic and watercolor, and aced a C-programing course. I also had a Photoshop CS course, 2 graphic design courses, Illustration, Drawing, and a texture course.
I transferred to the Art Institute of Houston where I eventually graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Media Arts and Animation. There I was introduced to Maya, 3ds Max, Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, After Effects, Flash, and Illustrator. I had a class doing concept art, and I also took 2 more photoshop courses.
After College:
I taught myself how to rig in Maya 2008 and 3ds Max 2008. I'm more familiar with skinning, aligning, and other things now. I have practiced to try and remember how to use them incase I ever need to one day.
Then, I learned Blender, or a lot of it. I know how to model, rig, skin, animate and texture to a certain degree, but I don't remember everything about rigging. While I know how to create and move lights around, I feel there's so much I don't know as there are too many options/rendering options(I'm talking about all 3 programs here).
I also learned how to code graphics using rle compression, other hex code, and some bianary.
I learned about other game making related stuff.
I went through a tutorial on learning assembly language for the 6502 (but don't expect me to remember all this text stuff, I'm better at memorizing and hex coding 2D graphics)
I was the game designer, artist, animator, and graphics coder for a video game not done yet. The lone programer is still working on it.
I enjoyed coding 2D graphics the way I did. NES screen tool helped a lot.
I refreshed myself on some of the CSS that I had barely taught myself during college and revisited learning about web pages, all that boring SEO stuff.
I created 3 Math learning DVDs that you can buy.
I also discovered how to untangle knots using a formula, and determine equivalency.
You can buy my Math notes which would make a good textbook, or learn more about it by clicking the link.
I made a hand drawn animation that's less than 2 minutes that you can see by clicking on "math notes" or "learning DVDs." I used Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 and the Gimp in its creation.
May 2019- I started practicing the 2019 versions of After Effects, Adobe Promeire Pro, and Illustrator at least starting May 1.
Oct 2019- I did all the learn tutorials for Photoshop and started reviewing.
Nov 2019- I started learning Pinnacle Studio 23, but there's a sound syncing problem that I don't think is fixable.
Jan 2020- I started learning Audition days after trying InDesign.
Apr 2020- I finished all the tutorials for InDesign and am currently a novice at interactivity. I used Audition a long time ago. I downloaded Animate and started doing tutorials.
July2020- I started using the 2020 versions of After Effects and Premiere Pro. I've been using the 2020 versions of the rest.
May 2021- I now have a game for sale that I used Illustrator and the Gimp to create. It's mainly cards.
Mar 2022- I reviewed the basics of Audition. Later, I did a career/personality test and my top career was video game level editor.
4/22/2022- In Illustrator, I figured out how to resize in feet and inches text that isn't editable as text anymore.
Dec 2022-Jan 2023 I had a brief job learning and using CorelDRAW 2021 as a Production Graphic Designer.
May 2023- Briefly started learning Unity.
Skinning
Apr. 2019-2022, I practiced adding influences with a locator in Maya and using Morph Angle deformers in 3ds Max. I've skinned in all 3 programs.
After Effects
After Effects seems to combine my editing, animating, and eye-hand coordination skills. I love doing motion graphics, and I suppose I composite a lot when I edit.
6/10/2019 I've gone over all 44 of the tutorials/projects that Adobe has on their main AE site, and I've watched some older ones too.
6/25 They added 3 tutorials... . I added an After Effects page here.
6/26 I've done each of the 47 tutorials at least twice.
8/14 Today I reached the halfway point where I've gone over at least 144 effects at least one time each, meaning either just reading about, just playing around with, just watching a tutorial, or a combination of the 3. I counted 288 effects.
8/26 They added 2 more tutorials. I've been over each twice.
9/18 They moved 5 tutorials a while ago and I've done the rest at least 3 times over now. Excluding the obsolete category and Mocha Shape, I have 75 effects left to go.
10/23 I finally finished going over all the effects excluding the obsolete category and Mocha Shape. I have questions about the CC under utility and one other CC. Now I plan on reviewing, focusing on 8-bpc effects that don't use specific file extensions or certain footage.
1/6/2020 They have about 103 tutorials now, and I think I've gone over all of them at least once.
4/15/2020 They added more tutorials a while ago which I think I went over at least once. This ends my AE comments.
